Description
The Herring memorial, located about 12 metres northeast of the vestry of the Parish Church of St John, is a memorial cross dating from 1865. It is made of white Italian marble and features a white marble cross on a chamfered plinth with a plain rectangular base. The memorial commemorates John Herring of Meopham Bank, who died in 1864, along with his wives and son. John Herring was a 19th-century genre painter who resided at Meopham Bank from 1853 to 1865.
