Description

Ivy Cottage is a mid-19th century cottage located on London Road in Aylesford. It was originally named The Lodge and was situated on Hall Road. The cottage is constructed of coursed ragstone rubble with a plain tiled roof. A distinctive feature is its octagonal plan at the south end, where the roof is canted out using wooden posts to create a ground floor verandah. Dormer windows are gabled, located to the north and east, and a central ridge stack rises from the roof. The cottage is a single storey with an attic. To the north, the canted walls contain two windows which flank a pointed entrance archway leading to a half-glazed door.
