Description
Claygate is a house dating from the late 15th century, originally built as a hall-house, with its elevations rebuilt in the 18th century. The exterior features painted brick and stone, along with a bracketed gutter that leads to a plain tiled roof, which is half-hipped on the north side. The house has two storeys and a five-window front, showcasing various hinged and sliding casements. On the left-hand side, there is a lean-to porch with wooden supports resting on a brick wall, which was added in the late 19th century. Inside, the house reveals much of its exposed framing and ceiling-joists, as well as a carved crown-post located in the attic.
