Description

Tudor Cottage is a house, originally part of a hall-house, dating to the 16th century. It is located on The Street, Ightham. The visible facade is of plaster and applied half-timberwork, which dates to the late 19th century and masks earlier brick walls. The north side is of red brick. The roof is tiled, with a dormer to the right and a return gable with decorated bargeboards to the left. The house is two storeys high, with two windows on the first floor, which are 19th-century lattice casements. A canted bay window with glazing sits on the ground floor to the left. A recessed panelled door from the 18th century is located to the right, protected by a flat projecting hood. The property forms one half of an original house; the neighbouring Sycamore Cottage comprises the other half, along with later additions to the north and at the rear.
