Description

Nos 196 and 198 on Butchers Lane are a pair of 16th-century cottages, which were once thought to have included an oast-house. The cottages feature exposed timber framing with brick and plaster infilling and have a plain tiled roof. They are two storeys tall and have an irregular arrangement of 19th-century casement windows on both floors. There is also a one-bay, two-storey brick addition from the 19th century on the north side.
