Description
The lodge located 100 yards west of Fairlawne is a mid-19th century structure made of painted brick, featuring a plain tiled roof that is hipped to the east and west, with splayed ends and a return gable over the central projection. It has decorative barge-boards, a pendant, and a finial on the gable, along with a large rear stack. This one-storey lodge has three casement windows set in raised surrounds on the splayed ends. The central ribbed door, which faces south, is topped with a flat bracketed hood. The lodge is positioned between the inner and outer gate-piers on the north side of the entrance drive, interrupting the curving entrance wall. The square dressed stone piers have ashlar dressings, a plinth, and a cornice, and they are topped with large stone globes. The entrance is further enhanced by 19th-century spearhead railings and cast-iron gates, along with a partial painted dressed stone wall that is six feet high to the north and a full-length wall between the piers to the south.
