Description
This is an oasthouse located about 50 meters southwest of Limes Farmhouse, likely built in the mid to late 19th century, with repairs made in the late 20th century. The structure features painted brick and is set on a ragstone rubble plinth, topped with a peg-tile roof.
The oasthouse is positioned northwest and above Limes Farmhouse, with the stowage block facing north. It has a rectangular stowage block and a cylindrical oast that connects at the southeast corner. The stowage block has a gabled roof and a 20th-century stable door in the center, with a loft door above that has been partly converted into a window. On the east side, there are two 2-light small-pane casements from the 19th or 20th century, and a similar window on the first floor of the west side. The oast features a 20th-century stable door with a glazed overlight, and its conical roof has been repaired after storm damage, with plans to replace the missing cowl.
Access to the interior was not possible during the survey in 1988. This small-scale unconverted oasthouse has group value with Limes Farmhouse and the farm buildings in the farmyard.
