Description

The remains of an 1812 windmill stand in the garden of the Old Mill House. The structure was struck by lightning in the 1960s and now largely survives as a brick shell approximately 5.5 metres high. The brickwork is in English bond and is handmade, with occasional blue headers. The plan shows an octagonal roofless structure. Externally, the remains of a segmental arched doorway are visible on one side, along with two loft doorways and three windows, all with segmental arched heads. A 1952 description noted the upper parts were weatherboarded and included a revolving head, intact sail arms, and a wooden platform around the base; the mill was operational until the 1960s.
