Description
1 Market Street and 20 Market Place is a mid-19th century building that stands two storeys tall with attics, constructed of red brick. It features a hipped tiled roof with two dormers. The front has two sashes without glazing bars and a central moulded doorcase with panelled reveals and a hood supported by consoles. There is a mid-19th century shopfront with pilasters to the right. To the left, there is a later two-storey front addition that covers the space of two sashes, which has a parapet and flat roof. The front is rendered and includes a three-light canted bay on the first floor along with the shopfront. The side of the building is red brick and has one sash window and a return shopfront. Nos 1 to 3 form a group, and No 1 also forms a group with Nos 13 to 20 Market Place.
