Description

The Queen's Head is a public house built in 1908. It features red brick with yellow, blue, and green glazed terra-cotta. The building has three storeys, with a recessed ground floor supported by pilasters. It has plaster strip quoins, moulded string courses, and a prominent centerpiece on the second floor. This centerpiece includes a modillion cornice and a segmentally pedimented gable topped with a lion finial and a scrolled parapet.

The secondary elevation to the right, which overlooks a yard entry, also has pilaster quoins, pilasters, a moulded string course, and a pierced and scrolled parapet. There are stacks on both the left and right sides of the building. The pedimented gable is adorned with panels of enriched foliate moulded brickwork featuring a central medallion. The second floor has keyed round-headed sashes on either side and a central tripartite wooden casement. On the first floor, there are two French windows with semi-circular fanlights set in keyed surrounds, accompanied by a bowed iron balcony with a honeysuckle pattern.

The right-hand block has a keyed round-headed sash on the second floor and a sash in a projecting frame with a cornice on brackets on the first floor. The plain yard entry features double boarded gates set in a foliated glazed tile surround with a frieze. The pub entrance on the left is marked by a large segmentally headed recess on the ground floor, richly moulded in glazed tiles, with a large segmental bow and tiled aprons beneath large mullioned and transomed windows. The central entrance consists of double half-glazed doors, flanked by imitation doors on either side. Inside, the pub boasts a fine glazed tile dado and a panelled interior with a central bar.
