Description

This is a row of six houses, built between 1833 and 1837 in Ramsgate, Kent. The houses are constructed of stock brick, with numbers 3 to 6 having been painted. They feature slate roofs and prominent stacks arranged from left to right. Each house has three storeys and a basement. A cill band and parapet run along the top, and there are sashes with wooden casements to the second floor. Each house incorporates a two-storey bow window, with French windows on the first floor. A tented verandah, supported by simple piers, is present, featuring screened upper sections and decorative geometric railings. The verandah does not extend across the facade of number 6. The ground floor has tripartite glazing bar sashes, except for a wooden casement at number 1. The entrances are via panelled, half-glazed doors, with semi-circular fanlights above. The doors to numbers 5 and 6 are positioned within the re-entrant angle of the terrace, with the entrance to number 6 being in a recessed porch on the left of the facade. Fleur-de-lys railings are a distinctive feature to the steps and basement areas. The basement areas connect to item 14/230.
