Description
This is a pair of stone lions located about 100 metres southwest of the St. Clu Hotel. Each lion stands approximately 3½ feet high and is depicted in a rampant position, holding a scroll that originally displayed a motto. These lions are identical to those used as finials on the Granville Hotel, which feature the Pugin motto "En Avant." They are either from the Granville Hotel or part of Edward Welby Pugin's broader redevelopment scheme for the area in the late 1860s.
