Description

Coastguard Cottages, dating from 1865, are located on the north side of Victoria Parade, Ramsgate. They are constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings, and have a slate roof. The cottages are two storeys and an attic, built on a plinth and feature a cill band, a string course, quoins to the parapet, and three asymmetrically placed gabled projections, each with a ball finial and a chimney stack. There are four stacks visible from left to right. The windows are wooden casements set in stone surrounds, with seven bays in total; the ground floor windows have separate top lights. Two projecting porches, complete with parapets and boarded doors with fanlights on their return sides, are present. One gabled porch features an arched, boarded door with ornately scrolled strap hinges and marble colonettes. The cottages form part of an open courtyard complex.
