Description

Coastguard Cottages, dating from 1865, are located on Victoria Parade, Ramsgate. Constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof, the cottages are two storeys and an attic and sit on a plinth, with a cill band, quoins and a parapet. The symmetrical facade features four gabled projections, each finished with a ball finial. Five chimneys are arranged from left to right. The windows are wooden mullioned casements in stone surrounds. There are twelve bays in total, with doubled windows in the gabled projections, and three-light windows with mullions and transoms on the ground floor between the projections. Attached to the gabled projections are single-storey porches with parapets, featuring boarded doors and fanlights on the return sides. The cottages form part of an open courtyard complex.
