Description

An early 19th century terrace of twenty-eight to thirty-seven Hawley Square. The terrace comprises four storeys and a semi-basement with an area. The buildings are constructed of brown brick, with each house having three windows. Most of the original window glazing bars remain. A parapet tops the terrace. Stringcourses are visible above the ground and first floors, although these are absent on numbers thirty-four to thirty-seven. Number twenty-eight features a bay window on both the ground and first floors. All the doorways have round-headed arches and semi-circular fanlights. Numbers thirty-four and thirty-five have pilasters and projecting cornices, with six-panelled, moulded doors. Number thirty-five includes an Adamesque swag and paterae frieze in its doorcase. Number twenty-nine has a decorated keystone. Numbers thirty-six and thirty-seven share a double doorcase, incorporating a triglyph frieze, three Tuscan half-columns, panelled reveals, and six-panelled doors. Numbers twenty-eight to thirty-eight form a group.
