Description

The tomb chest to Janet McLeod, who died in 1833, is located about 42 metres north of the Church of St. George in Ramsgate. This stone structure is designed in a neo-classical style. It features a triple stepped base, which was originally surrounded by a railing. The sarcophagus rests on ball feet and is supported by fluted piers that mimic the appearance of burning torches. The side panels are raised and have Greek key patterns incised at the base. The top slab is raised and has scrolled corners.
