Description
A group of chest tombs is located north of the Church of St. Mary. The tomb of Anne Clipman, who died in 1819, is situated about 1 metre north of the north transept and features fluted corner piers. The tomb of Margaret Collet, who died in 1838, is approximately 10 metres north of the church and has a large base area, although the railings are missing. This tomb has unusual splayed and reeded corner piers with folded side panels. There is also a late 18th-century chest tomb with an illegible inscription, located about 20 metres north-west of the church, which has corner piers adorned with symbols of death and burial, as well as raised and moulded side panels. Lastly, the tomb of Elizabeth Wootton, who died in 1784, is about 23 metres north-west of the church and features fluted baluster piers in recessed corners and raised side panels with a curving outline.
