Description
Kingsgate Castle, built around 1760, began as a copy of a Welsh Edwardian castle commissioned by Lord Holland to serve as stables. Only the large round tower of the original structure survives, with the rest falling into disrepair. In the late 19th century, Lord Avebury undertook a rebuilding of the castle. The building is quadrangular, constructed with flint facing, stone long and short quoins, and window dressings. It features a crenellated parapet, and its windows are mullioned with three lights.
