Description

This is a house, now divided into two separate dwellings, dating from the 15th century with significant alterations and additions in the 17th century, specifically 1613. The building is timber-framed and exposed, with plaster infill and plain tiled roofs.

The right-hand section of the house is from the 15th century, exhibiting large, panelled framing with arched bracing across three framed bays. It is two storeys high and has a hipped roof with a catslide extending to the right. The windows are largely 20th-century wood mullioned replacements, and the left side features a board door.

The left-hand section is a 17th-century cross-wing with close-studded construction and jetties. It is two storeys high, with a garret above. Oriel windows are positioned on the ground floor, first floor, and in the garret, each supported by carved brackets. A stack is located at the rear. The underside of the jettied gable displays the inscription "BTA 1613".

Inside, a staircase dating around 1613 features a winder and a landing with carved newel posts. Two stone chimney pieces are also from around 1613: the downstairs fireplace has three carved panels surrounded by strapwork and damasque work, supported by pilasters and featuring a cornice. The upstairs chimney piece has two panels with semi-circular fans above, with birdballusters and a cornice.
