Description

The Old Rectory is a 16th-century house situated on a moated site. It is timber-framed with exposed close studding and plaster infill, with painted brick and tile cladding to the return and rear elevations. The roof is tiled, with hips, gablets, and stacks located centrally to the left and to the rear left. The house has two storeys and a continuous jetty, supported by brick piers on brackets, on the left and right sides. The fenestration is irregular, featuring wooden casements. A boarded door is situated to the right, within a moulded surround, and a plank and stud door is found within an outshot to the right, with strap hinges and an enriched four-centred arched doorway. Rear wings are present, also with hipped roofs and gablets, and may be of an earlier date.
