Description
Nos 59 to 62 on Abbey Street are a group of small, L-shaped houses built in the early 19th century. They are two storeys high and feature five windows on the west front, along with three windows and one doorway on the south front. The entrance to No 62 is located on the south front. The houses have a slate hipped roof and three brick chimneys. The fronts are made of red brick, with some areas having been refaced. The windows are framed with rubbed brick voussoirs and retain their glazing bars. On the west front, there are shutters on two upstairs windows and a ground floor bay projection at the northern end. This front also includes three round-headed doorways with rubbed brick voussoirs and blocked tympana, along with a modern verandah in front of the paired doorways. All the houses have recently undergone restoration. On the west side, there are small wooden posts connected by chains of modern ironwork. To the east of No 61, a red brick wall with red brick coping, approximately six feet high, extends eastward to a warehouse. Nos 59 to 64 and the warehouse form a cohesive group.
