Description
Anchor Cottage and The Anchor Inn are located at the north end of Abbey Street, facing directly down the street. This building block, originally from the 17th century and altered in the 18th century, consists of two storeys and features a total of seven windows. Number 52, known as Anchor Cottage, has tarred weather-boarding, while The Anchor Inn is finished with pebble dash and includes a stringcourse. Both buildings have tiled roofs. Number 52 has casement windows and a doorway topped with a small flat hood. The Anchor Inn primarily features sash windows with intact glazing bars, along with some casement and modern windows. It also has a two-storey porch at the center of the front, which has a hipped roof. Anchor Cottage and The Anchor Inn, along with Nos 1 and 2 Abbey Road, form a cohesive group.
