Description

The house at Wormdale Farm is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with additions and alterations in the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick, with a plain tiled roof, and incorporates a timber-framed section. The building is two storeys high, with a basement, and has stacks at the rear. The front has a regular arrangement of glazing bar sashes; three on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all with gauged heads. The central doorway has six raised and fielded panels, a semi-circular traceried fanlight, fluted pilasters, and a pediment supported by brackets. Inside, a timber-framed rear wing shows evidence of a buttery, a scullery, and a passage providing access to the kitchen, indicative of the service end of what was originally a hall house.
