Description

The walls to the north-east and south-west of the Masonic Hall, including the gateway to the north-east, date from the 18th century and earlier. The wall to the north-east is approximately 9 to 10 feet high and is constructed of red brick or stone rubble, incorporating masonry from the Medieval Abbey of Faversham. It features a four-centred gateway with voussoirs made of stone blocks located in the north-east corner, about halfway along the wall. North of this gateway, the wall is primarily built of similar stone rubble, with some brick and flint included. The wall to the south-west is about 7 feet high and is also from the 18th century, possibly earlier. It is made of red brick with a red brick sill, a toothed brick course, and brick coping. This wall ramps upwards towards the hall at the north end and ramps downwards at the south end, just north of the entrance to the churchyard.
