Description
Nos 37 and 37A are a pair of houses built around 1840, located on the east side of The Mall in Faversham. The houses are constructed of stock brick and originally had a slate roof, which is now not visible. They are two storeys tall with a basement, featuring a parapet and a central stack.
On the first floor, there are two late 20th-century top-hung casements designed to resemble glazing bar sashes. The ground floor has one similar casement to the right, along with a door made up of six moulded panels to the left. This door is adorned with a fine traceried fanlight set in a semi-circular headed surround, positioned at the top of a flight of steps with simple rails. There is also a railed area with steps leading down. All openings have gauged brick heads.
Although these houses are not part of the original terrace that began in 1829, they are marked on the 1841 Tithe Map.
