Description
The Coach House and Stable Building at Halstead Place School is an early 18th century structure that stands two storeys high and features eight windows. The central two-bay section, which is topped by a pediment, includes two round-arched openings with fishscale tiling in the tympana. The building has a hipped slate roof with a moderate pitch, crowned by a cupola that houses a clock and a vane above the pediment. The walls are made of red brick and are adorned with a brick dentil cornice, a moulded string course at the first floor, and a plinth. The original casement windows have been renewed, and two modern windows have been inserted in the pediment in a way that is not sympathetic to the building's character. The rear elevation is constructed from flint rubble with alternating blocks of red brick dressings and features five irregular first floor casement windows, along with five modern ground floor windows and a door. The interior has been rebuilt.
