Description

Black and White Cottage, also known as Spring Hill, is a restored house dating from the 15th or early 16th century, likely originally built as a hall. It features a large hipped tiled roof and exposed timber framing with plaster filling. The building has two storeys and four irregularly placed windows, with some painted brickwork on the ground floor. There is a two-storey, one-window extension on the right side. The cottage has a prominent projecting gabled porch at the center, which is two storeys tall and has a jettied first floor, probably added in the early 17th century. The gable is adorned with moulded bargeboards. The windows are assorted leaded casements, and the entrance features a plain plank door set in a stout frame.
