Description
Vine House is a building dated 1731, located on the south side of Park Lane. It features a three-window facade and stands two storeys tall, constructed from red brick with flat arches over the windows made of rubbed red headers. The building has a parapet with painted stone coping and a flipped mansard slate roof, which includes three flat-roofed leaded downers.
A moulded stone plinth supports the structure, and there is a carved stone reed-moulded band that runs over the centre doorway, stopping at the bays and continuing along the ends and side elevations. Above the first-floor windows, there is another continuous band adorned with small carved rosettes. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with a fanlight above, set within a round-headed arch. The fanlight features tracery, and the arch is surrounded by moulded stucco with heavy rusticated quoins and voussoirs, the centre voussoir carved with the head of Bacchus. The reveals of the door are panelled.
On either side of the doorway, there are projecting brick bays that rise two storeys, topped with a parapet and concealed flat roof. These bays contain sash windows, although the glazing bars have been removed. A 18th-century sash window with glazing bars remains in the centre on the first floor, and the window reveals are painted.
At the rear, facing the yard, there are 18th-century double doors featuring "fish door knockers" and a fanlight above with tracery. Vine House, along with the railings, garden wall, and No 3, forms a group.
