Description

Horseshoe Green Farmhouse is a late medieval hall house that has undergone several alterations over the centuries. It is two storeys high with a four-window front. The roof is tiled, hipped on the left-hand side, and features two ridge stacks. The first floor is tile-hung, while the ground floor is constructed of red brick with a decorative pattern of blue headers. Modern casement windows have been installed. On the first floor of the left return, there is exposed timber framing with plaster infill. A 17th-century lean-to extension is present at the rear, along with a late 18th or early 19th-century addition to the right. Inside, some very robust exposed timbers remain, along with one wall of plank and muntin panelling displaying Roman builders' numbers. The house has been re-roofed, but a diagonal-braced crownpost stump remains, cut off at the top. The building has group value.
