Description
Hole Cottage is a 15th or 16th century hall house that was partially destroyed by enemy action. The entrance front features two storeys and one window. The first floor overhangs on the left side, supported by old joists and three curved brackets. The building has a high-pitched tiled roof with a long hip on the right side. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor shows visible timber framing, some of which has plaster filling and some is made of reused brick. The chimney breast on the left has been rebuilt with offsets. There is a replaced plank door set in a stout old frame on the right, and small modern casement windows with leaded lights. The foundation is made of stone with some modern brick underpinning. Inside, heavy timbers are exposed, and there is a crown post in the roof.
