Description

Old Buckhurst is a late medieval hall house with an early 17th-century projecting gabled extension on the left. It features a high-pitched tiled roof that has a large, symmetrical ridge stack with arrises, a cornice in several planes, and a stepped blocking course. The first floor is tile hung from the 19th century, while the ground floor is made of brick. The windows are leaded iron casements. Inside, there is much heavy exposed timber and a newel staircase in the later part of the building. Notable ornamental plaster work above the upstairs fireplace is dated 1617.
