Description
Hoath House is a 16th century timber-framed building, originally a small farmhouse, located in Chiddingstone. The house has undergone significant restoration and enlargement around 1900, and is built on a hillside with ascending floors to accommodate the slope of the site. The exterior features irregular, half-timbered construction with exposed vertical timbering and rendered infilling, alongside brick and tile hanging. The roof is tiled with half-hipped ends and a central chimney stack. Leaded casement windows and a modern projecting tiled porch, with a period oak door, are also present. The interior contains notable 16th and early 17th century panelling, much of which was brought from Chiddingstone Castle, as well as an ornamental carved screen that previously formed part of a family pew at Chiddingstone Church.
