Description
The Old Rectory is an early 18th-century building that incorporates an older framed structure. It features tile hanging with a hip tiled roof and a central gable end that forms a pediment. The building has two storeys and a central attic window within the pediment. The symmetrical front elevation includes a glazed central door flanked by entasised pilasters, which have moulded capitals supporting an entablature and a pediment that forms a hood. On either side of the door, there are three sash windows in exposed frames, all with glazing bars. The first floor has seven sash windows. The central tiled gable pediment has moulded eave boards and lead flashing aligned with the eaves. A date stone from 1734 indicates alterations to the building. To the right, there is an old projecting brick stack with stone quoins and rebuilt shafts. Inside, the building features beams with moulded chamfers and a small panelled room that includes a Tudor arched fireplace, which may date back to the 17th century.
