Description
Stakes House, also known as The Stakes House Tea Rooms, is an early 19th-century villa located on Hosey Hill in Westerham. The building features three bays, with the left bay added in the late 19th century. It stands two storeys tall and is constructed of painted brick. The roof is low pitched and hipped, covered with slate, and has an eaves soffit. The villa has recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set under segmental brick arches. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a glazed top, framed by a doorcase that has panelled jambs, lion heads at the corners, and a cornice hood. At the north corner, there is a quadrant glazed café entrance. The building has late 19th-century rear extensions. Stakes House comprises the two right bays of the original villa along with the rear extensions, while Stakes Edge includes the left bay and the left extension.
