Description
No. 56 (Vale View) and No. 57 (Forge Cottage) form a late 17th to early 18th century house of an L-shaped plan. The construction is predominantly red brick with grey headers, set on a stuccoed base. The roof is tiled, with a hipped end to the south-east. Vale View has modern sash windows with glazing bars, while Forge Cottage features casement windows. A string course runs around the building. No. 56 now has a doorcase featuring a moulded wooden architrave and a pediment decorated with a putto, which is not of 18th-century origin.
