Description
No. 8 (Elcombe House) and No. 9 are an early 19th century building and former stable wing, now converted into a two-storey house. The main building is faced in stucco with chamfered stone quoins. It has a brick cogged eaves cornice and a half-hipped mansard roof covered in stone tiles. There are three dormers, each with glazing bar sashes and segmental heads. The three windows on the front have glazing bar sashes, with the upper panes featuring pointed Gothic glazing. A central panelled doorway is framed by a pilastered doorpiece and a panelled frieze. The sides are chalk with brick dressings. A set-back wing to the right forms an L-shaped plan. This wing is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The former stable wing, also of brick, has been converted into the two-storey house at No. 9.
