Description

Barn. This barn likely dates to the early 16th century or earlier. It is timber-framed and clad in weatherboarding, with a plain tile roof. The barn has three timber-framed bays, arranged east-west, and features a central midstrey. It has a hipped roof and a full-height double door facing north. A weatherboarded porch, with jettied eaves and a hipped roof, and a full-height double door faces south. Lean-to extensions are present on both the north and south sides.

Inside, the barn exhibits gunstock-jowled posts and arch braces to the central tie-beams. It has two plain crown-posts, each with head braces and one foot brace, as well as lapped collars. Curved tension braces are trenched past the midrail to each wall, with the exception of the south-east corner. Lath and daub infilling is visible above the midrail in both sides of the end bays. The roof is a side-purlin construction featuring curved queen-posts in the lean-to sections.
