Description

TQ 75 NE BOXLEY THE STREET (east side)

5/91 Head stone circa 3½ yards south of south vestry of Church of St Mary and All Saints G.V. II

Head stone. Mid C18. Stone. Head stone with 2 half-scrolls with rolls towards centre of stone and tops joined by convex bridge. Beneath the outside end of each half-scroll is another, with a small roll at the top to the outside and a large roll curled towards the centre of the stone. Head carved with central gadrooned vase with a mask to left. Carving to right indistinguish- able. Trailed foliage from bases of side scrolls across top of incised area; which has beaded edges. Inscription largely illegible at time of resurvey.
