Description
The former stables, located about 20 metres south-west of Great Cheveney House, date back to 1763 and have undergone later alterations. The ground floor is constructed of red and grey brick in Flemish bond, while the first floor is tile-hung. The building features a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high on a moulded brick plinth with a hipped roof.
On the exterior, there is one two-light casement window with thin glazing bars to the right of the centre. A boarded first-floor loading door is positioned to the left of the centre, with another loading door towards the front of the right gable end, which is accessible via an external flight of stairs. Each end of the ground floor has a stable door with a segmental head. There are also two stable doors and one ribbed door towards the centre, with the left door possibly dating from the 18th century. The right gable end features ventilation slits and a ribbed hatch on the ground floor. A brick on the building is inscribed with "A * C * (?) * C * 1763". The interior has not been inspected.
