Description

Court Lodge Farm House is a house that has been converted into a farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century, possibly with a core from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with the left side elevation featuring a chequered pattern of red and grey brick. The roof is made of plain tiles and is double depth, with the facade facing the gable end. The building stands two storeys high on a brick plinth, topped with a moulded wood eaves cornice. There is a parapet with an early 20th-century dentilled cement cornice, while the rest of the building has a dentilled brick cornice. The hipped roof covers both ranges and has hips returning along the side elevations, with two additional rear hips. Each rear range has a brick ridge stack.

The windows are regularly spaced, consisting of two casements with marginal lights and a central semi-circular headed window. There is a fluted segmental band above each ground-floor window. The central recessed panelled door features a semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars and is framed by a door-case with pilasters and a broken triangular pediment. An early 20th-century porch with two Doric columns and a flat corniced hood enhances the entrance. There is an extension to the right, built around 1903, in a similar style. An 1823 drawing of the house exists, but the interior has not been inspected.
