Description
The former oasthous, now a house, is located about 12 metres east-south-east of Boughton Place, near Grafty Green. It likely dates from the 16th or 17th century, with kilns added in the 19th century, and was converted into a house in 1985. The building is constructed of red and grey brick in English bond, while the kilns are built of red and grey brick in Flemish bond. It has plain tile roofs. The plan is a "T" shape, with the main section (the stowage) being double-depth. Two circular kilns are situated across the head of the "T." The building is two storeys high, and the kilns are topped with conical roofs and cowls, with a dentilled brick eaves cornice to the kilns. The stowage has hipped roofs. Modern two- and three-light wooden casement windows are set into the ground floor, featuring segmental heads. A modern double door is located on the west side. The interior of the building was not inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
