Description
Stables located about 18 metres north-north-east of Wardes Moat, built in the early 19th century. The structure features chequered red and grey brick with a plain tile roof and stands two storeys tall. It has a chamfered brick plinth, except for a central break, and a dentilled brick eaves cornice, also interrupted at the break. The roof is hipped with a gabled central break. The front has a regular arrangement of three windows, each with recessed two-light casements and splayed rubbed brick voussoirs, including one in the central break and one on each side. There is a small roundel in the gable. The stables also have three mid-20th century garage doors with moulded wooden cornices, with the left and right doors featuring semi-circular rubbed brick arches from former doorways. Each floor of the left return has one casement, while the right return has none, and the rear has three casements. The rear lacks a central break but has a central blocked doorway with a semi-circular rubbed brick head and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. A brick in the front gable is dated RW 180 (1, 2, or 7). The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
