Description

Cheveney is a house dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century additions and restorations that likely occurred in the 19th or early 20th century. The building features a timber frame with plaster infilling and has a plain tile roof. It follows a lobby entry plan consisting of two timber-framed bays and a narrow central stack bay.

The east elevation stands two storeys tall with a garret on a stone plinth and exhibits close-studded framing. The right gable end has a jetty supported by shaped brackets and features an applied moulded fascia, while the left gable end may have an underbuilt jetty. Both gables are jettied on protruding wall-plates and have shaped brackets, with the right gable also showcasing a moulded fillet and collar, as well as moulded bargeboards and pendants.

A central brick ridge stack is present, and the fenestration is irregular, consisting of three leaded mullioned casements: two with three lights and one central with four lights. The right gable end features a restored 10-light ovolo-moulded mullioned and transomed bay window on the ground floor. The left gable end has ovolo-moulded mullion frieze-windows on the first floor, with a small gable above the central window. The entrance includes a ribbed door set within a moulded rectangular architrave located beneath the stack. There are 19th-century additions to the rear and to the right of the house.
