Description

Cherry Tree House is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It was originally named Cherry Tree Cottage. The front elevation is rendered, with painted brick to the sides and darkened weatherboarding to the two front gables. The roof is thatched. The house has a central section with cross-wings projecting to the front, and likely to the rear. It is a single storey building with a low rendered plinth. The wings are gabled to the front, and the roof of the central section extends to cover the section between the wings, supported by four painted wooden posts. Two small brick ridge stacks are located at the rear of the right wing. The front has a regular arrangement of four windows, featuring pointed Gothic casements with leaded panes including hexagonal quarries. There is a one-two-light window with Y tracery to the front of each wing, and two three-light windows to the central section, each with three joined pointed lights without an overall architrave. A canted 19th-century bay window is present to the left side of the left wing, and a three-bay window to the right side of the right wing, both with thatched roofs continuing over them. A low, single-storey painted brick addition with a hipped plain tile roof is set at right angles to the rear of the left wing, extending across the rear of the house. The interior has not been inspected.
