Description

The ruins of Sutton Castle are located on the north side of Rectory Lane in Sutton Valence. This structure dates from the late 12th century or early 13th century and is built of stone. The remains of the keep measure approximately 12 metres square, with walls still standing in some areas to a height of about 7 metres. There is also a fragment of a smaller block about 2 metres to the north. The site is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
