Description
No. 3 Park Lane is a house built around 1820-1830. The front elevation features red brick with grey headers arranged in a diaper pattern on the ground floor, while the first floor is weather-boarded. The right side elevation is also weather-boarded, and the lower range at the rear has a diaper pattern on the ground floor with tile hanging on the first floor. The house has renewed tiled parts and two later 19th-century brick chimneystacks.
The front range is two storeys high with attics and has two windows. There are two gabled dormers with sash windows that have three panes in the top third and vertical panes below. The other windows are tripartite sashes with 24 panes. A central early 20th-century porch incorporates the original six-panelled door. The rear range is two storeys with three windows. The first floor features unusual later 19th-century sashes with three panes on top and vertical panes below, while the ground floor has a cambered casement window. There is also a one-storey brick extension with a tiled roof.
Inside, the left-hand room on the ground floor retains an original fireplace with reeding and paterae, along with two cambered alcoves and a dado rail. The first floor has two original fireplaces, one with a reeded surround and square decorations at the top and bottom, featuring an early 19th-century fire-grate, and the other with a later 19th-century fire-grate. Some six-panelled doors are also present.
