Description

No. 2 Lucks Lane is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with additions made around 1830 to the east and north. It is constructed of soft red brick and features a plain tiled roof with an original ridge stack. The house has two storeys and attics, with a range of three 18th-century horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars in flush wood frames on the first floor. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century hung sash windows with glazing bars on either side of the doorway.

The entrance is highlighted by an early 19th-century portico, which is semi-circular in plan and has a flat roof supported by slender Doric columns. The doorcase features thin, reeded pilasters topped with an entablature, and the double doors consist of six raised and fielded panels.

To the east, there is a parallel and adjoining range added around 1830, also two storeys high and made of red brick with a plain tiled roof. This section includes three recessed horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars and Gothic tracery above, set beneath four-centred, gauged brick arches. The ground floor features segmental arches and flush wood frames for one full-length casement window, one casement window, and a half-glazed door.

To the north, there is a small single-storey service wing built of gault brick. Inside, the house has a sealed inglenook and a late 17th-century chamfered and stopped main beam in the north ground floor room. An early 19th-century staircase is located in the centre bay, featuring two flights and a landing, with an open string and square-section balusters that have scrolls at the tread ends. The south ground floor room has early 19th-century panelling on the shutters and doors, while the north ground floor room contains a 18th-century door with four raised and fielded panels.
