Description

The Cock Inn is a public house dating from the 17th century or late 16th century. It features a timber-framed structure with a ground floor made of painted brick and a first floor covered with mathematical tiles. Some of the original timber framing is visible towards the end of the left wing and on the right gable end. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high on a painted plinth. It has a steeply-pitched hipped roof, with the left hip returning. There is a projecting brick stack on the left gable end and a buff and red brick stack on the rear slope of the roof towards the left. Additionally, there is a brick stack towards the front of the right gable end.

The fenestration is irregular, consisting of three casements: there are no windows on the left side, one two-light casement located under the stack, and two three-light casements on the right. The entrance features a half-glazed door beneath a flat bracketed hood, situated under the stack. At the rear, there is a lean-to and a timber-framed return wing on the left. The right gable end displays exposed solid-spandrel arch-braces, with the front brace carved with a key and crown, and the rear brace adorned with fruit and flowers. The interior has only been partially inspected but includes exposed framing and a large stone fireplace, along with evidence of a continuous jetty on the front elevation.
