Description
This building is an outbuilding, originally stables, located about 7 metres south of East Sutton Park. It dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century and is constructed of coursed galletted stone with a plain tile roof. The structure is 1½ storeys high and sits on a stepped stone plinth. It features moulded brick coping and cut brick finials on each end gable, as well as on three stone gables on the front (west) elevation.
The front has a regular three-window arrangement, which includes one three-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window with brick dressings at each gable, and one on the ground floor below, positioned within a blocked doorway. There are eight slit lights with chamfered brick dressings arranged in a stepped pattern between the ground floor windows. A blocked door is located towards the rear of the left gable end. The rear elevation has a boarded door with four top lights and a segmental head at the centre, along with another door to the right. A diamond-shaped clock face is set into the central gable of the west front.
Inside, the building retains the original machinery for the clock. The roof features clasped purlins with diminishing principal rafters and windbraces.
