Description

EAST SUTTON TQ 84 NW 5/57 Outbuilding about 7 metres south of East Sutton Park GV II

Stables, now store. Late C16/early C17. Coursed galletted stone with plain tile roof. 1½ storeys on stepped stone plinth. Moulded brick coping and cut brick finials to each end gable and to 3 stone gables to front (west) elevation. Regular 3-window front of one 3-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window with brick dressings to each gable, and one to ground floor below, that to centre within blocked doorway. 8 slit lights with chamfered brick dressings in stepped arrangement between ground floor windows. Blocked door towards rear of left gable end. Boarded door with 4 top lights and segmental head to centre of rear elevation with another to right of it. Diamond-shaped clock face to central gable of west front. Interior: original machinery to clock. Clasped purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters and windbraces.
