Description

The Tatt is a pair of houses located on Yalding High Street, dating from the 17th century with 19th-century alterations. The building is timber framed, featuring exposed framing with red brick infilling on the left side of the ground floor, and red and grey brick in Flemish bond on the right. The first floor is rendered, and the roof is covered with plain tiles. The structure has two storeys and sits on a ragstone plinth.

The left section of the ground floor is framed in two panels up to the storey, with a herringbone top course in the infilling. The roof is half-hipped, and there are various brick stacks: a projecting stack on the left gable end, a multiple brick ridge stack towards the left, and a projecting brick gable end stack on the right.

The building features irregular fenestration with three casements: one two-light window at each end and one three-light window towards the centre. The right ground-floor window has a boarded shutter. There is a boarded door located under the stack, which is sheltered by a timber-framed porch. This porch has a ragstone base, brick infilling, turned balusters instead of an upper panel at the front, a rendered gable, a plain tile roof, and a set of five steps leading up to it from the right. Additionally, there is a boarded door at the right end for No. 2, with four steps rising to it from the left. A rear lean-to is also present. The interior has not been inspected.
